About

After accomplishing the study Wildlife Management I wanted to apply my knowledge in favour of mammals.
I conducted the following studies:
- In the Netherlands I coordinated and carried out a very interesting study on the status of the beaver in means of population size and structure, distribution, territory size and reproductive success in the Millingerwaard. Three different monitoring methods were combined in this study for gaining the best result, which had never been done before. In this way very exact information about the beaver population were found.
- I graduated by setting up and executing a research on the distribution of the lynx’ prey species in and around the Bavarian Forest & Šumava National Park in Germany/Czech Republic. Coordinating international cooperating field workers and holding the time limit was challenging. The results of the project were very valuable for the management board of both National Parcs in coordinating future developments.
- Furthermore I helped on smaller projects to expand my experience, like mouse-trapping in Friesland, NL; otter-monitoring in Hankensbüttel, Germany; summer job at Stichting AAP, NL

It is essential to maintain and develop the nature we can benefit from in so many ways. Restoring natural processes and creating wilderness areas is a good start to keep a healthy environment. Not only for humans; we need the large herbivores, carnivores and all other species in order to reach this!
