Dr. Can Bilgin is an associate professor at the Biology Department of the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. He leads the Biodiversity and Conservation Lab, studying a diverse range of species but always with a strong conservation component.
His focus is on population ecology of threatened mammals and raptors, habitat use by large carnivores and ungulates, species distribution modeling, systematic conservation planning, human-carnivore conflict, and sustainable management of natural resources. He advises and collaborates with the national authorities on the reintroduction and management of the Turkish mouflon (Ovis gmelini anatolica) and the last autochthonous population of fallow deer (Dama dama).
Member of the Society for Conservation Biology and the International Bear Association.
