About

Head of Programme Development / Deputy Executive Director ECNC. From 1 January 2012 onwards Coordinator LHNet.

Ben joined ECNC in 1994 and has built up extensive experience in providing expertise and support in relation to biodiversity in general and indicators, monitoring, and reporting in particular, as well as relevant international policy initiatives. He is accustomed to liaising with organizations and institutions in the field of international biodiversity policy, such as the European Commission, EEA and its Topic Centre on Biological Diversity, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Council of Europe and UNEP. Ben is (co-)author and editor of over 50 publications, has led projects for various clients and was ECNC Editor for the Journal for Nature Conservation from 2001 to 2009. He is member of the Management Committee of the ETC/BD, Research Associate with the European Forest Institute, and Secretary of the ECNC Scientific Council.

Before joining ECNC, Ben worked as research assistant at the Universities of Leuven and Antwerp, Belgium.
