LHNet's focus is to preserve and restore all large herbivores in Eurasia in the wild, so that they are visible to a broad public. This includes the step-by-step realization of a well connected network of landscapes, which may well take 100 years, or even longer, to guarantee sustainable populations in balanced ecosystems.

With the help of IUCN and our expert network a first overview of all 35 large herbivore species has been created in the species database. The database contains information on the biology, ecology and distribution of the species in 57 countries, but also on the carnivores and the vultures. It is vital that these fact sheets are kept up to date in order to be able to react to urgent situations. This will stimulate the protection and rehabilitation of large herbivores through projects and other initiatives.
The Large Herbivore Network is part of ECNC. It is a Eurasian network organization that cannot survive without support from you and many others. LHNet is a broad platform for professional practitioners caring for Eurasian large herbivores in their vast landscapes (experts), ambassadors and country contacts. Volunteers and trainees are also part of LHNet.
